Brāžu Rapids - boating on the River Ogre, boats, routes

Brāžu Rapids is one of the best water tourism routes if you are looking for river rapids in Latvia. A valuable biotope and a spawn place. Brāžu Rapids are found where the riverbed of the River Ogre has filled with rocks. The meandering river has formed steep banks called the Red Banks due to exposed clay.

The valley of River Ogre is generally characterised by rich variety of biotopes and species. The rapid stream sections, as well as the oak, linden, maple and elm stands in ravines and on the river slopes of 45 degrees are protected on the European level. Here you will find the largest area of wild garlic in the River Ogre Valley. In 2000, this site was registered as a geological and geomorphological nature monument.
