Till 1873 the manor has been the property of Baron Julius von Transee. It can be found out in archives why Baron divided and sold off his property. The big and luxuriant castle Marciena which was the center of other his 30 manors and entities, was purchased by Baron von Madailen (after unverified facts, in 1905 the castle was devastated), also many other estates were sold out but a part of manor` s household with the masters` dwelling-house, flour-mills, and other houses and circa 100ha land was bought out by Latvians –brothers Janis and Bertulis Birni. Probably, that then this separated property was named “Patmalnieki”, much later – “Lejas Patmalnieki”.

As an entity Marciena manor covered an extremely large, many hectares big locality of castle Marciena. Around the 1908 (the year has remained in the weather-vane of the masters` house) the house devolved to German Johan Gotlib Hanschmann` s property, and the dwelling-house was greatly reconstructed, and it has remained till nowadays. From castle Marciena which is circa 1.5km from Marciena manor have remained only stable` s ruins (in picture) and gardening house. But in 1 July 2005 in the buildings of Marciena manor was opened the first private health-resort in countryside in Latvia in which healing is based on both professional medicine and traditions of Latvia` s nature therapy.

The building is restored accordingly to its original colour. The interior is coloured in conformity with the colour samples which were found on the walls, where it is possible the historic cornices are restored. Furniture is bought mostly in the ambient parishes of Marciena.

In the Marciena manor all the historic complex of the buildings is preserved undivided – the Lord` s house, stable, cattle-shed, granary or maybe garden-house, stewards` house, forge, only the flour-mill has turned into irreversible ruins. In the nearness there are no other buildings. The manor is only 1.5km away from the center of the parish, 10km from Madona, it is as if very close to civilization and at the same time – totally separated, a place where nobody interfere. A pond (1.5ha) under a road like a brooklet falls over the ruins of the flour-mill and winds away around the Lord `s house and over 30ha of mane` s meadows to Arona river, the most famous river of trouts in Latvia. On the other side of the pond there is a forest (80ha), cutting areas and springs and you can walk there along airing trails. The pond is stocked with fish and craw-fish.

In the garden-house` s construction of glass there is a closed swimming-pool, physical therapy` s and beauty salon, solarium, sauna, vapour bath etc. In the stable- sport lessons and equipment for exercises, also a game zone for children but near the pond there is a sill bath-house with a heating aspen tree` s tub for 6 men outside on the terrace.
